It hasn't taken long.....

...they've only been citizens for 6 weeks!! Grace and Anna are real patriots........

Here they are sat in front of the TV this morning, as Sunrise (our breakfast TV show) broadcast live from Sydney airport showing the Australian Olympic Team arriving home from Beijing.

They even had flags waving!

I have to admit, I found it really quite exciting too.

Go the Aussies!!!!!

In this life......

I took the kids out of school early this afternoon and told the teachers we had an appointment....we did, infact, have an appointment, along with several hundred others, at our local shopping centre........ to see Delta Goodrem!

Delta was making an appearance to sing her new single and promote her upcoming tour. We arrived around 3pm and she was due on stage at 4pm. After an hour of standing and being encouraged to scream and shout by some guy from a local radio station, we were rewarded by an excellent performance by Delta. She is a great entertainer, and Grace and Anna were in awe!!!

After her two songs, we were encouraged to join a queue for autographs.....this queue moved very slowly!! Delta gave her fans much attention and was in no rush to get through the line of hundreds of people. After two and a half hours of moving approx 1 metre every 10 - 15 minutes, we finally reached the stage where Delta greeted Grace and Anna with a hug each. It was well worth the wait!

So, four hours after arriving at the shopping centre, we left again, tired, hungry and thirsty, but happy!!!

No prizes for the guy who took this photo. I should have taken it myself rather than being in it!!!

We love Books!!!!

Today Grace was invited to a 'book brunch', organised by The Childrens Book Council of Australia to celebrate Book Week.
Book Week is the longest running children's festival in Australia, celebrating its 63rd birthday this year. http://cbca.org.au/bookweek.htm
The theme for this year is 'fuel your mind'. Grace was one of approx 50 children invited along to a cafe at Brisbane's South Bank parklands to meet a number of Australian childrens authors and illustrators. She had lots of fun learning how to do illustrations, and heard talks from a few of the authors about their works. Grace was given a lovely lunch of chicken nuggets and chips, followed by ice cream with chocolate sauce. On the way out, all the children were given a goody bag containg four paperback books. Grace purchased a couple of books by Annie O'Dowd and had them signed by Annie for herself and Anna. Below is a photograph of Grace with a school friend, Sophie, and author Nette Hilton.

Tears in heaven...

Anna has enjoyed singing in her school choir this year, and this afternoon was amongst 49 children in her school choir to perform at the 18th Annual Queensland Catholic schools Music Festival. The festival will continue over the weekend and welcomes 8000+ students performing in 300 ensembles representing 80 Catholic schools across Queensland.

Anna's school choir performed 2 songs in a total performance time of 7 minutes, one of them being Eric Clapton's 'Tears in Heaven'. It was beautiful. Well done Anna, and the rest of the Guardian Angels Senior choir! We are proud Mummies and Daddies, with tears in our eyes!!!
